| Partridge Pea With Matching Spider With Prey Crab Spider Thomisidae (Family) Partridge Pea Chamaecrista fasciculata (Species) | I have two frames of the spider with no bee then, suddenly, the spider is on a different petal with the bee. Clever of the spider to match the colors of the flower. Note that this is actually a composite of two images. I had two almost identical frames. In one the spider was in fairly good focus and another the head of the bee was in focus. Neither image was very pleasing so I took the head of the bee from one and placed it in the other resulting in a nice image. One way to deal with depth of field. If anyone knows this spider please let me know. Have the word 'photo' in the subject line. | |

Spider On Tennessee Coneflower Whitebanded Crab Spider Misumenoides formosipes (Species) Tennessee Coneflower Echinacea tennesseensis (Species) | The flower that this spider seems to be guarding was considered extinct in the 1960s. It has been rediscovered and re- planted in many areas. It is found only in the cedar glades of the central basin of Tennessee. This photo was taken in the largest know natural population of the species at Tennessee's Couchville Cedar Glade State Natural Area. | |
